InFocus, a long-time leader in high-end business and home theater projectors, faced a new set of challenges when they kicked off their most aggressively priced offering ever. They needed the lowest cost solution for the largest screen possible. The IN1 would feature a 100-inch+ picture and integrated speakers for a theater-like in-home gaming and movie-watching experience at a revolutionary price that would be competitive with the performance of large format display televisions.

Based on a previous working relationship in which Stratos mechanical design experts successfully solved complex problems for InFocus, they selected Stratos as the mechanical design partner for IN1, confident it would uphold the brand’s reputation for performance and innovation. Stratos collaborated closely with InFocus and its China-based manufacturing partner from concept to production.

The Stratos team successfully met product performance criteria, including an ultra-low cost of goods sold, world-class design for manufacturing and assembly, thermal management, tight optical chassis tolerances, and regulatory safety standards for projection systems.

Tight project management, identifying and mitigating risks, and coordinating a 25-unit prototype build allowed Stratos to accelerate development of the IN1 and exceed aggressive schedule expectations.
