On March 15, Tom Kadavy, Director of Medical Technology for Stratos, and Mark Ando, Director of Business Development, will lead a discussion entitled “Product Line Growth: Innovation Strategy for the New Regulatory and Healthcare Reform Environment.” The discussion will focus on the changing environment for medical device development due to healthcare reform. Ando and Kadavy will provide a framework for working in this new, changing environment, provide insight on how R&D groups will be affected by the changes and offer actionable strategies for success.

On March 16, Kadavy and Ando will facilitate a roundtable discussion on “The Customer & Business Balance: Assessing Needs & Bringing a Viable Product to Market.” Recognizing that there is a delicate balance between designing solely to customer requirements and meeting business needs, Ando and Kadavy will talk about the challenges that arise during the product development process and ways to manage obstacles to bring the right product to market to satisfy all parties.

Tom Kadavy brings twenty years’ experience in the development, manufacture, and commercialization of technology-based products and has consulted to a number of technology companies in varied industries. Before joining Stratos, Tom served as the Senior Director of Engineering with Boston Scientific Corporation (formerly Heart Technology, Inc.), was co-founder of Spark Medical, Soma Dynamics Corp, and Director/ Vice President of Operations of Wall Data, Inc. Tom has consulted to a number of technology companies in varied industries, contributing business strategy and original designs, including a design which garnered R&D magazine’s “R&D 100 Award.” He holds four United States patents, with six pending.

Mark Ando has 19 years’ experience designing, engineering and managing the development of products from concept through production across multiple market segments and production volumes. Mark started at Stratos in 1995 serving as a senior mechanical engineer and project manager on numerous high profile projects. In 2003, Mark took a hiatus from Stratos to found two successful companies, Slipstream Design and Cirrus Biosystems. He returned to Stratos in 2009 as Director of Business Development, bringing his deep business and product development experience to assist Stratos’s clients with their innovation and business goals. Mark’s extensive local and overseas vendor relationships and experience in off-shore production have consistently added value to our clients’ project efforts.
