2009 University of Washington Medicine Inventors of the Year Awards
The Inventor of the Year Award is given to UW scientists who have translated their research, through partnerships with the biomedical industry, from the bench to a product or process with major impact on health care and the economy. The 2009 award is being given to a team, Drs. Bonnie Ramsey and Arnie Smith, for their development of TOBI, an aerosolized drug for the management of the potentially deadly Pseudomonas arugenosa in cystic fibrosis patients.
In addition, this year, the award is being extended to honor a member of the community who moved this new product to market. The 2009 Special Honoree Inventor of the Year Award will be presented to Dr. Bruce Montgomery.
