The project objective was to deliver a portable information delivery system within twelve months for a cost of $1M.
This required effective management of the assigned project team and the development and execution of a Project Plan to ensure that customer expectations and needs were achieved.
The Project Plan was developed by the team and used as a living document throughout the project. This approach provided the team with flexibility to consider and implement changes to ensure that the end product met the users needs. The Plan contained an Objective Statement, Scope, Resource Roles and Responsibilities, Work Breakdown Structure, Schedule, Risk Analysis, and Budgeted Cost.
Periodic project meetings, and project reviews permitted the team to maintain a focused approach. Weekly reports and scheduled project reviews enabled the PM to keep management informed of progress and issues. The team deployed Beta units to a key launch customer earlier than anticipated and for less cost than budgeted by management.
