Basic electronic hardware requirements for the Wearable Thin Client device were: integrated Wireless LAN (WLAN), quality audio for speech recognition, support for graphics displays, and low power consumption to support continuous operation throughout multiple shifts.
Selected Intel's StrongARM processor to support speech recognition and graphics, and a Lithium-ion power source to provide superior capacity and stability.
Integrated PCMCIA to support multiple WLAN devices, PCI bus to support different graphics engines, and a variety of user-accessible input/output interfaces to support potential peripherals. The finished product was flexible and economic, without unnecessary legacy hardware inherited from the personal computer industry.
