Performance and reliability are how this product is measured, how to visually portray those qualities with tight time and budget constraints was the challenge. To reinforce those values a strong rugged aesthetic was created, honest functional forms were developed and material choices of metal versus plastic remained true to the defining attributes .

A unifiying curve in the front bezel not only served to connected the separate disk drive modules into a single cohesive statement of strength. This also created a functional element that provided the necessary clearance for the users hand when removing and installing the modules. Helping distribute the weight of the module, a braking feature was create to force the user to use two hands when removing for maintainance or repair.
