Incorporated a two-way design system that maintained small-size but increased sound quality exponentially. Reproduced stereo-imaged sound for frequencies (> 1 Khz) with two small speakers mounted in separate acoustical housings. Reproduced lower frequency bass sounds (< 1Khz) with two larger speakers located behind the LCD display.
Bass speakers were connected in parallel and mounted to a common, acoustical enclosure. Both bass speakers play into separate slot-loaded cavities with the sound exiting to either side of the LCD display.
The slot-loaded cavities provide a band-pass enclosure, reducing frequencies too high or too low for the bass speakers to reproduce. The slots also cause sound to wrap around the display to the front and back, improving coverage.
